Lake Worth, FL (PRWEB) June 25, 2014
Hospitality Evolution Resources Consulting (HER-Consulting.com) is pleased to announce their unique role based eLearning modules on protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) have been selected by Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) as part of their pre-approved certification education maintenance requirement.
As a result of HERs strategic partner (The Venza Group) receiving approved educational provider status for HFTP members, Protecting PII is now part of the select curriculum of acceptable continuing education courses accepted as CPEs when Certified Hospitality Accountant Executives (CHAE) and Certified Hospitality Technology Professionals (CHTP) apply for renewal of their certification. The Protecting PII modules are part of the extensive Venza Groups PEAK® Series of courses on compliance and workforce effectiveness specifically for the Hospitality Industry.
Venza Groups PEAK® eLearning programs have, with the announcement of HFTPs educational approval, had their value boldly acknowledged. Further enhancing the associations educational resources, members are now eligible to receive a discount for their companies on pre-approved data privacy-related learning programs.
The industry is realizing that PCI compliance is just the tip of the iceberg. Protecting valuable identity information typically tied to hotel guest data is a must in todays environment post Target. Staff in several departments at hotels are sharing and storing PII inappropriately on both an internal and external basis. These unique eLearning modules are the first hospitality driven courses available to educate staff based on what they do. It is also the first system developed by the hotel industry for the hotel industry, said Evelyne Oreskovich, President of Hospitality Evolution Resources.
With reports of data breaches increasingly affecting the hospitality industry, it is clear that hotels are attractive and lucrative targets for criminals. Hoteliers reduce the risk and negative publicity associated with data breaches by properly educating employees on data security.
Educating industry professionals on the importance of data security vigilance is nothing new for HFTP. Now, by providing their certificate holders and members access to these eLearning programs, HFTP is boosting its commitment to the hospitality professionals growth, said Jeff Venza, President and CEO of the Venza Group. And with the recent ruling by the FTC relative to protecting guest data, the need is greater than ever for hotels to take proactive steps to ensure staff is better trained to spot ways data can be compromised despite outstanding IT precautions.
