snom Demonstrates Lync-Skype Calling and Federation with snom UC Edition Phones at ITEXPO West
August 27, 2013 --
Berlin and Las Vegas (PRWEB) August 27, 2013
snom technology AG, a leading developer of IP business phones, today announced that its Lync-qualified endpoints support Lync-to-Skype federation, enabling users of Lync Enterprise Voice to make and receive calls directly from Skype contacts on snom UC edition phones.
With the federation of Skype, Lync users have expanded collaboration and connectivity capabilities to their Skype contacts enabling sharing of presence information, sending and receiving instant messages and making audio calls as if they were on the same unified communications platform.
snom is showcasing its full support of Lync-Skype federation with live demonstrations of Lync-to-Skype calling featuring snom endpoints with Microsoft Lync 2013 at booth 715 of ITEXPO West, taking place in Las Vegas from August 27-29.
Skype is a large and growing business communications channel, and we are thrilled to offer our customers this capability, said Oliver Wittig, snom vice president of enterprise relations.
Lync/Skype federation brings together the best of two worlds; the enterprise robustness of Microsoft Lync and the worldwide reach of Skype. Federation extends the capability of snom phones, enabling users to easily communicate with Skype users via voice or IM without having to maintain two separate applications.
A Lync business user with a snom UC edition phone can search and access Skype contacts who are part of their Lync buddy list and share presence information directly from the phone. Select snom UC edition models also deliver the most advanced integration and customization of Lync calling features for these buddy list contacts directly into the device by enabling configuration of the phones programmable buttons for speed dial and enhanced presence visibility.
Lync-Skype federation is supported on snoms Lync qualified phones with Microsoft Lync Server 2013 or 2010 Enterprise Voice Edition. It marks the latest step in snoms continued integration and advanced support of Microsoft Lync calling features with its snom UC edition phones.
Earlier at WPC13, snom introduced new snom UC edition firmware to support enhanced Better Together Lync feature integration on its Lync qualified phones including enhanced PC pairing via Ethernet, click-to-dial, call transfer and ad-hoc conferencing where users drag and drop Lync contacts from their snom desktop phone into the Lync Phone Edition soft client for conference calls.
