Ticket News Announces Top Ticket Sellers for Week Ending January 24, 2009

VERNON, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 01/29/09 -- TicketNews announces top ticket sellers rankings for the week ending January 24, 2009.
Former Live Nation executive Michael Cohl made news last week when according to Pollstar, he reportedly sold about forty percent of his shares in the company worth an estimated $1.73 million. The move comes after a $19 million loss Live Nation suffered in December when U2 exercised its right to have the company buy back shares it paid the band, dealing a new blow to investor confidence in the entertainment and ticketing company. Cohl resigned as chairman of the company in June 2008.
There was not much movement in the top ten spots of the Top Overall Sellers rankings for this week with Ticketmaster remaining in the number one position with a power score of 33.64. TicketLiquidator moved up one position to number six, while TicketCity fell to position number seven. Tix.com took over the number ten spot in the rankings with a power score of 1.43.

Stubhub and TicketsNow kept their positions at one and two in the Top Secondary Sellers rankings this week with power scores of 26.88 and 13.16, respectively. TicketLiquidator made its way into the top three with a power score of 7.35.

The ten ticket companies who make up the Top Primary Sellers rankings were unchanged with the top seven ranked companies remaining in the same positions as last week. Wantickets was the only company to improve its rank moving to number eight with a power score of 1.06. Ticketmaster was number one again with a power score of 59.77.
